Program Officer, Election Working Group (EWG) Program
The Asia Foundation (TAF) Bangladesh is currently implementing a multi-donor project to provide support to Election Working Group (EWG), a network of 29 leading CSOs formed in 2006 with a view to enhance transparency and credibility in the electoral process. TAF is looking for a Program Officer for this project whose key responsibilities would be as follows.
Key duties and responsibilities
  • Assist the EWG Director in preparing and updating the annual and quarterly work plans;
  • Provide contextual background for policy advisory papers and briefing notes including research and analysis of data on electoral issues;
  • Collect necessary information from the Election Commission Secretariat, as well as from the field establishments of the Election Commission;
  • Assist EWG Director in implementing the program activities such as arrangement of trainings, workshops, round-table discussions, press-conference etc.;
  • Assist the EWG Director in the preparation of voter and civic education material;
  • Monitoring the activities conducted by partner organizations;
  • Assist the EWG Director in overall implementation and oversight of project outputs;
  • Any other duties assigned by the EWG Director.
Required skills and experiences
  • A masters degree/four years Bachelor degree in relevant subjects;
  • A minimum of 5 years administration and program management experience in the field of elections/democratic governance area;
  • Ability to maintain good relationship with Election Commission Bangladesh and relevant CSOs
  • Good understanding of the electoral and political system of Bangladesh;
  • Excellent computer skills in Microsoft word, and experience with database maintenance, publishing, and accessing information from the internet;
  • Strong communication, documentation and knowledge management skills, including ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, with a wide range of persons and stakeholders including TAF staff, donors, and partners organizations.
Job location: Dhaka with field visit
Duration: One year and six months with possibility of extension
